What program can I download freely that will open PDF files and let me highlight and cut/paste from?

Adobe Reader (which is free) will let you do that.

Personally, I prefer the free alternative Foxit PDF Reader, which is much faster, and will also let you do that.

Some .PDF files have their permissions set so that you can't highlight and copy and paste text from it. There's not much you can do about that. What program can I download freely that will open PDF files and let me highlight and cut/paste from?
Adobe has some downloads that will allow this--but they don't tell you which is which for some reason.

Scansoft PDF Create used to have a free download. They still may.

And some of your MS software will do this in Office. Adobe has used MS over this and it may not work anymore. I know that I had problems doing what you want to do about two weeks after the lawsuit was announced.

(MS is a crazy-quilt of other companies' software... some of it under license and some of it simply pirated and modified. That's why Windows is so large and has so many holes.)What program can I download freely that will open PDF files and let me highlight and cut/paste from?
Adobe Reader

The One and Only Reliable way of opening PDF files is the ADOBE ACROBAT READER you can download and install it from www.adobe.com.

Take care and God Bless !
Try Open Office. The Word Processor in it will save files in PDF format.
