Sally hansen's lip plumping lip gloss? think it ruined my top lip...?

okay, so i'm pretty sure one of the main ingredients in the lip gloss is cinnamon, and i've never had an allergy to cinnamon. but anyway, after about a week of use, my top lip felt sunburned and started peeling. it hasn't stopped, although i discontinued use.

what could be the cause? has anybody else experienced this?Sally hansen's lip plumping lip gloss? think it ruined my top lip...?
No, and I've used that same lip gloss you're speaking of. But I know certain things can chap your lips, and that's all you have. Chapped lips. It burns and peels, etc, right? Yep, you're just chapped. I've been there a million times. The weather does it to me, especially if it's windy. Just stop licking your lips, stop peeling the skin off and use a halfway decent chap stick and it will stop. I don't know why that particular lip gloss did that to you, but it could be because it's cheapish. Maybe you have high-end lips, lol. You need the better stuff. ;-) Maybellene makes GRRRRRRRRREAAT plumping gloss but as a warning, it does kind of hurt and feel weird and tingly/numb when you first put it on so make sure your peeling areas have healed if you're gonna use it. Here are the ingredients

Water, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Glycerin, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Beeswax, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Lauryl PEG/PPG-18/18 Methicone, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Hydroxypropyl Dimethicone Behenate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Allyl Methacrylates Crosspolymer, Retinol, Polysorbate 20, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tribehenin, Sorbitan Isostearate, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Extract, Soluble Collagen, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Aluminum Stearate, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Flavor, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Retinyl Palmitate.

It said it had a special ingredient a 24hr Time Released Retinol which boosts moisture and smoothes the lip's surface night %26amp; day. This is what Retinol does, it probably too much for your lips.

';Retinol is the entire vitamin A molecule that can be broken down into thousands of smaller components, of which one is retinoic acid (also called tretinoin, the active ingredient in Renova and Retin-A). Skin cells have a receptor site that is very accepting of retinoic acid. This relationship between retinoic acid and a skin cell allows a type of communication in which the cell is told to function normally (that is, not like a damaged or older cell), and it can conform to that request. Retinol cannot communicate with a cell until it has been broken down into retinoic acid.';

This is the explanation of what it does; if it does convert to retinoic acid, it can help to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, help with acne depending on the retinol product, and help to minimize pores. It also can help smooth the skin and give it the appearance of younger looking skin because it increases cellular turnover.
yes, I had a similar reaction but to a different product. Even though you may not be allergic to one particular ingredient, when they combine together with the other chemicals they cause a reaction.

now that you have discontinued, put on a healing lip balm to help with the soreness and the peeling
Hmm you may have had a small cut on your lip and the ingredients aggravated it. If it doesn't go away, you should see a dermatologist.

I use that lip gloss and I've never had any problems!
I experienced the same thing! My upper lip started to flake really bad and the skin started peeling off it. I never used their glosses again!
