1. Open the PDF document you wish to highlight.
2. Click on the Binoculars icon on the PDF toolbar. This opens a sidebar to enter criteria.
3. Enter the word you want to search in the text box provided. Type multiple words or a phrase for a more refined search.
4. Check the boxes next to the set criteria if any applies to your search.
5. Press ';Search'; All the instances of the word or phrase will appear highlighted in the PDF document. Tab through the document to view all of the instances.
6. Choose ';Save PDF'; Enter a file name and choose a file location. Click ';Save';.
Or, you can do this another way using your mouse:
1. Open the PDF document you wish to highlight.
2. Click on the ';Text'; icon on the PDF toolbar.
3. Select the ';Block Mode'; option. The folder options close. Repeat Step 2.
4. Choose ';Highlight'; The folder options close.
5. Right-click your mouse and hold it down. Then, move your mouse over the text you wish to highlight. Unclick your mouse and the text is highlighted.
That's it.
I hope this help - good luck.

There should be a highlighter tool at the top of the .pdf under 'comment and markup' and 'markup tools' and then ';highlight'; that is with the latest version of acrobat.
